Welcome to our website!

The tag line this year is "It's happening here!".  We had the Challenge for Excellence in the '90s, followed by Dare to be Great!  The goal to be great has been met!  Now -- It's happening here!  Please join us and attend some of the many activities and events sponsored by the U of L Tampa Bay Alumni Club.  You will have "more fun on the Suncoast" with the Cardinal fans.

The Tampa Bay Alumni Club is one of U of L's largest.  In 2000, the Club won the University's "Outstanding Alumni Club" banner for the tenth consecutive year.  In recognition of this unique accomplishment, the Club was granted exclusive title of "U of L's Flagship Alumni Club" and permanent possession of the banner.  Accepting the honor, the Club withdrew from future competition, but pledged "to continue to add programs and encourage other clubs to strive to match the standards it set".

Most of our activities are socially oriented.  In addition to arranging watch parties for selected football and basketball games, we are co-hosting a U of L Winter College -- lectures by noted professors and lively discussions for life-long learners.  Again this year is a mixer, "Connecting with Kentuckians", with the U of K, EKU, and WKU Tampa Bay alumni.  The time and dates of these events will be announced. 

We sponsor an annual Derby Party and a Golden Alumni presentation.  U of L's men's baseball team will be back at Bright House Field in Clearwater in May 2009 to defend its Big East Conference Baseball Championship!  There will be other activities.  Please browse the Activity Schedule page and watch your e-mails for details!

For Tampa Bay Alumni Club members, scholarship support is a personal thing.  Our members enjoy contributing directly to worthy students of their own choosing and participating in university-wide fund drives.

As our income from dues, donations, and events is sufficient to allow, the Club deposits money in its Alumni Association Scholarship Fund for future scholarships.  Thanks to your participation and generosity, we are able to award scholarships to Florida students.  Cara Loeb of Pembroke Pines was our scholarship recipient for the 2007-08 year.  And she is also our scholarship recipient for the 2008-2009 year.  Cara's father passed away almost three years ago.  The award will be a big help this year as Cara continues her studies at U of L!
